Update from Becky Stroupe Coppedge: Daddy is resting. His nurse today is Kim. They have already done the PICC line and he did well with that. Waiting to hear from Dr. Gillespie re: when the trach will be done. He does not have any sedation meds going in at the time. His eyes are open and you can see him swallow occasionally. He still looks really tired. Later today he will be getting a bath ♥
Daddy rested good last night. They are going to be putting in a PICC line this morning for his meds. Carol was going with mama to the rheumy this morning. She is going to have him check her foot and also ask if she needs to go see a neurologist. ♥
Carol and mom are stopping by the shoe store before coming to the hospital.
David C. Stroupe I love your children Aunt Cynthia. They make me laugh. (Amy T. Purser)
Daddy will not be getting an NG tube today. Instead they are going to put in a PEG line. The dr. said the NG tube would only be temporary and that he would have to have a PEG line anyway. They are working on getting him prepped for that now. ♥
At this point the plan is for daddy to go to Mercy @ Charlotte after daddy gets his trach for care and rehab. He is doing wonderfully. He even got a pedicure this morning and got his feet all lotioned up. Love you, daddy!
Lana Kay Pressley Helms > Mercy is a fabulous hospital. Praying for you, David, Annie Mae, and entire family.
David C. Stroupe > mama says thank you!
Mama is here at the hospital with me now. Carol and Ricky are expected shortly.
Aunt Bonnie Schmidt stopped by this morning to see daddy before she left to go back home. We were talking about when my grandpa Stroupe died and I did not know this, but she said that they were going to amputate his foot and he had a heart attack before they could do that. That was a blessing
Daddy's nurse for the day is Melissa.
Daddy started waking up a little last night, so they upped his Propofol. Otherwise he rested good. The nurse is to check with the doctor at rounds to ask about fluids. We were promised Friday that daddy WOULD NOT go the weekend without fluid intake. Please pray that the Dobhoff tube placement is successful.
Saturday, June 4th:
2037 Dr. Gillespie (ENT) came in tonight to check on daddy. He is very nice. He said it will most likely be Tuesday before they can do the trach. He was very optimistic and supportive when I told him that we were in the dark concerning the pneumonia.

1438 - Daddy has a good nurse today, the former Robin Chaney.
1422 - Just talked with Dr. Syzner and he is confident he can put in a Dobhoff tube into daddy's stomach and/or small intestine to get some "food" into him. He will do that tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. He thought it would be best to try that first since it is less invasive, and then do the "peg" tube only if he is unable to get the NG tube in. Thank you, God, that daddy is finally getting someone to help him. Thank you, Katy Ennis Gray for lighting the fire.
1211 - We had a conference with the ENT dr this morning and made a decision to have a trach put in daddy's throat. We feel like this will give him the best chance to get better. That will probably be done on Monday. If you are praying, pray for a miracle. ♥
0958 - Daddy rested well last night with the ventilator. His vitals are stable. Thank you God for your blessings.
