Healthcare
I'm starting to think there might be something to this whole healthcare reform idea. That statement in no way implies that I support our current "president" or any of his ideas. I have been sick for almost two weeks. Yesterday, I called the doctor's office only to get their voice mail. I did receive a call back, but that was at 6:00 p.m. last night. Not feeling any better, I tried calling another family practice that I've had my eye on for some time, Mount Jefferson Family Practice. Their plan is, "you have to come by and fill out an application and then our doctors will review your application and we'll call you back if we can take you." How long would that take, I asked. "About two to three weeks". ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME!!!! Notice that is not a question. So I tried another medical practice, High Country Family Practice, and got the same response. ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME!!! So I called yet another practice in Boone, Appalachian Family practice, and THEY ARE CLOSED ON FRIDAYS??? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!
Unsure of where to go from there, I called Ashe Medical Associates again (my current provider that didn't call me back until 6:00 p.m. yesterday). I was able to get an appointment for thirty minutes later and was out of there within 30 minutes. I saw a new Dr., Dr. Landis. Sometimes I think you get more compassion from a female - go figure. I've not always been thrilled with AMA, but at least you can get an appointment and be seen BEFORE you die!
If you live in Ashe County, North Carolina are looking for personal medical care, try Ashe Medical Associates. Go to their website and read their "beliefs". They serve God first and the public second. I LIKE THAT!
