Return to the mountains

This was probably the best weekend I have had in a very long time. For starters, I donated a pint of my "O-" on Friday at Mount Pleasant Middle School. It has been quite a while since I have donated, so I could not pass up this opportunity. So I hurried back home to pick up my bags and to kiss Boo Boo goodbye. I got to West Jefferson around 6:30 pm, but had to make a pit stop at Wal-Mart to pick up some coffee for Saturday morning. As much as I hated to have to stop at Wally World, starting the weekend without coffee would have been even worse. After a breakfast of sausage, bacon, eggs and toast, Saturday was spent getting some much needed rest. A nice nap on the couch under Pat's homemade quilt made for a very relaxing afternoon. I woke up about 4:00 and headed to the kitchen and put on a pot of beans, and peeled the majority of a 5# bag of potatoes. You can't have pinto beans without stewed potatoes. Don't forget the onions and mayonnaise! The cornbread made it into the oven about 6:30. Supper was awesome. But they probably had a better meal at Antioch for the hobo supper. We missed not being there, but we were there in spirit.
Sunday morning brought another day of worship at Obids. I just love this church. Pastor Tom definitely has a way with words. I just can't wait until we are able to called this church "home". We went home and Jel baked a pizza for lunch, and then we proceeded to watch the Panthers lose yet another game. I surprised Jel by spending an extra night. Of course, this meant that I would have to get up before daybreak to head back for Concord. Sunday night we watched a good movie, called "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". Jel got scared watching it and I made fun of him. We went to bed about 10:30 and I got up at 5:30 this morning and put myself together and packed my stuff. I left about 6:15 am and made it to work by 8:45. I made pretty good time, actually. But I would not want to make a habit of having to drive that far again that early in the morning by myself.
I understand Rufus had a date with Daisy this weekend. And he's still not home! I guess he'll be a daddy sometime next spring.
Til next time,
Missing the mountains
